AT&T Uverse – Technology For Everyone
I’ve grown up in an era where I have all the options at my fingertips. I’m used to a clear telephone connection, hundreds of channels and high speed internet. However, when my mom recently got ATT internet service, she couldn’t believe it – and told me just how far cable television and technology in general have come.
My mom told me that she only had 3 television stations to choose from whens he was a kid. In fact, many of her friends didn’t have a television at all! today, I can’t even imagine how people got along without TV. My mom also remembers when they first got cable and it only had thirty stations. I laughed when she talked about what a big deal that was.
It was actually kind of difficult to get my mom excited about her new technology options. She was a little wary. After all, the few channels she had and her dial-up connection were working just fine, as far as she was concerned. The bottom line though was that she was missing out on a ton of discounts and was actually paying about the same for her limited channel selection and low internet speed as I was for my lightening fast speed and 100s of channels.
Once she realized that for the same price she could get a lot more, I finally convinced her to give it a try. She was worried that the technology would be confusing but once I showed her how to work the remote and get online, she was off and running. She now says she can’t understand why it took her so long to make the switch.
There are a lot of features available with AT&T Uverse, so I’ve been giving her bits of information every time I see her. For example, I started off just showing her how to browse through the channels she has available. Once she was comfortable with that, I showed her how she could access the channel guide and even find the shows she wanted to watch. Soon I’m going to show her all the movies and TV shows she has available On Demand, which I think is really going to impress her. I’m glad my mom was able to make the change and it’s been really interesting to think about just how far technology has come in such a short time.
