Loop stocks a wide range of knitting pattern books to inspire your needles!
By Julie Weisenberger

With over 30 years of knitting, designing, and teaching experience – Julie Weisenberger presents her first book: Cocoknits Sweater Workshop which includes nine new designs. The book expands on the simple, seamless, top-down styling we’ve come to expect from Cocoknits.

The innovative color-coded Cocoknits Worksheet shows exactly where to work shaping elements without having to continually read and interpret pattern abbreviations, and at the same time allows the knitter complete control over customization to achieve a fantastic fit. All designs are worked from the neckline down, so once the neck and yoke area are established, the knitter can just cruise through generating the sweater and not worry about counting or losing track of their place in the pattern. Another advantage of knitting top-down is the ability to try on your garment as you work, to ensure the fit is right.

Please note: This is a large book and weighs 750 grams.

With a contemporary approach to traditional knitting patterns and textures, Small Knits brings to life a collection of stylish necessities for warmth and fashion. From selbu mittens to unisex hats and neckwarmers these pieces work for just about any mood, recipient and wardrobe. In this book, you'll find instructions and photos for 19 charming projects, plus variations, including: elegant Nordic mittens, handwarmers, a beret, stylish neckwarmers in houndstooth, argyle patterns, an eye-catching Fair Isle hat, handwarmers, comfy and durable socks in herringbone, other classic stitches, a delicate and lacy shawl and much more!

Combining her love for the outdoors and knitting, Linka Neumann presents patterns for Scandi-style jumpers, cardigans and a headband that will keep you warm and dry, no matter how rough the weather is.

Drawing on traditional Norwegian knitting methods, these designs for thick, woolly knits are not only comfortable and cosy, but also represent an authenticity and style that has stood the test of time. Linka takes inspiration from nature and wildlife for her fresh yet timeless designs. From the Norwegian forests, snow-covered landscapes and fjords to reindeer, wolves and her beloved Husky dogs.

Many of the designs come with variations to suit all tastes, whether you prefer a jumper or a cardigan, a thick or thin garment, sewn-on arms or round yokes. The patterns include instructions for a range of sizes and for both female and male body shapes. There is also a pattern for making Linka’s signature Wilderness Sweater in children’s size.

The projects are showcased in a stunning Norwegian landscape that will make you yearn for the outdoors. And no matter how long or short your adventure, you will be cosy in your bespoke, home-knitted jumper. These knits chime with an eco-conscious, anti-fast fashion sentiment and will literally last you a lifetime of adventuring!

A fresh approach to lace by combining solid techniques with over 20 contemporary projects.

For a small country on the Baltic Sea, Estonia’s tradition and love for handicraft greatly surpasses its size. Estonian knitting is all about techniques, embellishment, and regionality. Each knit tells a story about the knitter and where they live. Aleks Byrd's book Traditions Revisited – Modern Estonian Knits is an introduction to Estonian knitting, both traditional and traditional-inspired. It includes 19 patterns, ranging from mittens to sweaters, that blend seamlessly with modern knitting styles.

Aleks Byrd – whose roots are in Estonia, Canada, and the USA – is a knitwear designer based in Bath, UK. In addition to knitwear design, she works as an illustrator and teaches Estonian knitting techniques around the world. In her designs, tradition and Aleks’ own, graphic style meet. With her book, Aleks wants to make traditional Estonian techniques accessible to everyone while at the same time building a bridge between Estonian knitters and the international knitting community.

Europe’s hippest textile genius throws the rulebook out the window with a knitting book like never before.

Freaked out by complicated instructions that leave no room for mistakes? Do you want to learn to knit fur? How about some funky patterns for children’s clothes that kids will love? Well, Lærke Bagger is here for you.

Known for her exuberant use of colour and textures, this young textile artist is rapidly gaining a fanatical worldwide following. In this unique guide, she offers advice for knitters of every level, as well as fifteen basic patterns that can be varied infinitely to suit individual skill sets, tastes, and materials.

There are illustrated instructions for making socks, scarves, and sweaters—but you’ll also find ideas for creating baby suits, scrunchies, T-shirts, and even a prom dress. In addition to eschewing perfection, the Lærke Bagger technique involves tying knots instead of sewing the ends of yarn, recycling every inch of wool, and letting mistakes be a part of the design. Veronika, or Kika for short, learned to knit at the age of five: her first piece was a pink pony with more holes than intact stitches. She has been fascinated by the magic of yarn turning into fabric in her own hands ever since. She launched her Instagram account @Kutovakika (meaning ‘knitting Kika’ in Finnish) in 2017 while living in Stockholm, and two years later started her channel while living in London. Today, Kika shares her knitting passion and tips to her audience of more than 330,000 active online followers. She returned to her hometown Helsinki in 2020, where she lives with her partner and two cats.

The history of Haapsalu lace knitting goes back a couple of centuries.

This book brings you 52 beautiful lace patterns created by Haapsalu shawl master Helga Rüütel. The book is kind of a sequel to the book “Helga Rüütli sallid. Haapsalu Shawls by Helga Rüütel” published 10 years ago, but in this book all the patterns are completely new. The photographed shawls were knitted by the master Helga herself. The basic instruction of shawl knitting is not in this book, but you can find it in the booklet “How to Knit the Haapsalu Shawl”.

Echoes: 24 Modern Knits Inspired by Iconic Women features knitwear patterns dedicated to incredible women — both real and fictional — who have influenced the designer Susan Crawford’s life. The array of icons includes authors such as Beatrix Potter and Virginia Woolf, the musicians Cyndi Lauper and Kate Bush, as well as activists, artists, garden designers and more.

This versatile collection features a variety of styles and techniques. It includes cardigans, sweaters, vests, jackets, and a dress, as well as shawls, socks, hats, mittens, and even a tie. Susan created the designs to resemble heirloom pieces, well-loved and handed down through generations, with stories interwoven into their fabric.

The book showcases the continuing impact of others on each of us, and how inspiration often works: creating layers within layers, echoes within echoes.

“Every piece of this collection is carefully intertwined with the next: stories, inspiration, colours and yarns are all different yet connected, creating a knitted tapestry, echoes of each one woven together. I hope you enjoy knitting them as much as I have done!”

Susan Crawford is a British knitwear designer, fashion historian and author, known for her work on modernising vintage knitwear patterns. She lives in the Lake District in North West England — an area with stunning landscapes that also impact her work. Susan is particularly inspired by the stories carried within textiles and the intertwining of history and stitches. Echoes is Susan’s eighth book.
