Overview Glass baren is a beautiful design tool for relief printing linocuts and woodcuts, monotypes and more. For all artists, students, teachers, workshops and of course those who simply print for fun at home. Each piece is 100% handmade by Czech glassmakers. The tradition of Czech glassmaking is legendary in the world for its quality, precision and love of the craft. Baren is shaped to fit perfectly in the hand and is easy and natural to work with. You just need to comfortably swipe the paper you have laid on the matrix. The glass material slides beautifully and so the work is really easy, fast and fun. The baren is easily portable due to its weight and size. Its design is magical so it can beautify your space when you are not working. We are really looking forward to working with a local family glass workshop and to the moment when we can add another addition to our press to create. Features GRIP FOR A COMFORTABLE HOLD Baren is beautifully held thanks to the top grip. It is designed to make the grip natural and comfortable for your hands. The top can also be used to print more detailed parts, just turn the baren upside down. The bottom part is flat so it stands stably on the surface. The edges of the bottom part are rounded so baren can move smoothly over the paper without jamming. UNIVERSAL PRINTING SIZE The width of the bottom part is approx. 10cm / 4 in, so it is absolutely universal for printing small but also really large print areas. WEIGHT With an approximate weight of 700 g / 1.5 lb, the glass baren is naturally heavier than wooden or plastic barens. The basic weight makes printing easier and you don't have to expend as much force. MATERIAL Glass is just a beautiful material and we were looking forward to adding it to our portfolio. The advantages of this material are several - Glass slides beautifully on paper, on the other way - it holds steady in the hand, it is very easy to clean, its natural weight contributes to beautiful prints. Skilled glassmakers mix coloured pigments into the baren which create a colourful storm inside. This often has an almost psychedelic character. AFFORDABLE PRINTMAKING TOOL The prize is based on the efforts and craftsmanship of the glassmakers, which we appreciate very much. Still, we think this instrument will be affordable for most artists and enthusiasts and will last for generations. WOODEN BOX FOR STORAGE Glass baren fits perfectly into the box that comes with it. Suitable for transport or as a design addition to your baren. If your box sits close to the press, its colour will match the colour of the press plates.
