The stainless steel cam plate synchronizes the bushings for perfect spacing at any setting. That’s a cool feature, but flip the jig over and you’ll find more clever features that work in concert with the variable spacing, starting with the incrementally adjustable fence. The rock-solid fence adjusts in 1/32 increments from just 7/32 from the centerline up to 1-3/8 for double-row joints on 2 stock. Precisely-milled teeth engage between the fence and the jig base to keep alignment perfect. An easy-reading laser-engraved scale shows you the exact spacing between the drilling centerline and the fence. To locate the dowels relative to the edge or end of your stock, insert the stainless steel stop rod in the end of the jig and set the stop to the laser-engraved scale. The “0” point of the scale is the center of the first bushing location. You can calculate everything based off that point, even offsets for table aprons and decorative shoulders. With four one-foot-long threaded sections, you can position the stop within a fraction of an inch from the first dowel or up to 4' away. Sometimes you need a dowel joint out in the middle of a cabinet panel or furniture component. With most jigs on the market, you’re out of luck, but the Ultimate Doweling Jig handles mid-field drilling with ease and accuracy. Take off the incremental fence and the clamping bar and you have a flat-faced drilling jig. Even better, add on the extension fence and the stop and you have two-axis positioning to put a set of holes right where you want them time and time again. Even shelf pin holes are no problem for the Ultimate Doweling Jig. You can guide along an edge and create an equally spaced series of holes using the supplied index pin to keep the spacing consistent. The index pins also come in handy when you have a joint you want make with more than 4 dowels. So, let’s look at this cabinet and its construction. Top flush with sides; check. Bottom flush to the top of the face frame; check. Fixed middle shelf; check. Adjustable middle shelf; check. Face frame joints at ends and middle; check. Face frame blind-mounted to cabinet; check and done. The Ultimate Doweling Jig handled it all, and we just scratched the surface of its capacities. The Ultimate Doweling Jig comes with the jig, extension rods, extension fence, end stop, both 1/4 and 3/8 drill bushings and indexing pins. 5mm, 1/2 and 5/16 drill bushing and index pin sets are available separately. You have your choice of a molded Woodpeckers storage case or a stacking Systainer. Like all OneTIME Tools, the Ultimate Doweling Jig is only made to order, precisely machined and carefully inspected in their Strongsville, Ohio manufacturing facility (just south of Cleveland). The deadline to order yours is Monday, November 29, 2021. Once orders are filled, it will be retired from the product line. Delivery is scheduled for May, 2022.
