Shane Clayton (AKA Montane, his musical stage name) has been a student of the Western Esoteric Traditions and a practicing astrologer since the mid-70s. After visiting the touring Tutankhamun exhibit in Seattle in 1978, he became deeply fascinated by ancient Egypt and never looked back. This interest culminated with a solo visit to Egypt 40 years later in 2018 where he encountered their Neteru (god forms) and 4,000-year-old recipes for incense and fragrant anointing oil offerings to them that were inscribed on the temple and tomb walls. Finding that no one else had troubled to reproduce these inspired his own research and the formulation of reproductions that are now offered for sale at his ‘The Egyptian’ Sacred Scents Store.

Shane’s Wandering Stars cottage in Northern California is not only where these ancient Egyptian mixtures are formulated, but it is also the location of his interdisciplinary holistic healing practice. Utilizing tried and true methods to integrate the Mind/Body/Spirit complex, Shane bases his work on three long-established ancient sources: the Eastern traditions of India, the Western traditions of Egypt, and a form of Mesoamerican shamanism based upon the medicinal use of the legal psychedelic green plant Salvia divinorum, which he grows and shares at his Butte Valley cottage.
