Frequently asked questions
Start with the question in front of you.
How do Certified Mail labels work, and what printer or paper do I need?
Create the USPS Certified Mail label online with live postage, then print it on plain office paper or an adhesive label using any standard office printer. You do not need a postage meter, special software, or a lease. Follow the label placement instructions and hand the prepared envelope to your mail carrier or a USPS collection point.
How does the print-and-mail service work?
Upload your PDF and address list, choose the print-and-mail service, and we print, insert, apply postage, and hand the mail to USPS. Orders received before 5:00 PM Eastern are printed, stuffed, posted, and mailed the same business day. Later orders are handled the next business day.
What proof do I receive?
Your records can include the USPS acceptance scan or SCAN Form record, tracking events, delivery or attempted-delivery confirmation, and signature records when an eligible return receipt is purchased and supplied by USPS. Print-and-mail orders also include a notarised affidavit of printing and same-day mailing acceptance from a state-licensed notary.
How do I retrieve proof from the 10-year archive?
Sign in to the account used for the mailing and search the archive by the available mailing, recipient, date, or tracking details. The archive keeps mailing proofs, USPS acceptance, tracking, delivery confirmations, and available signature records together for up to 10 years. If you need help locating a record, contact the mailing desk with the best details you have.
How can I send bulk mail?
For a batch, upload an Excel or CSV address list. For repeatable high-volume work, ask about API or secure SFTP transfers. We can help you choose the right intake format, prepare a batch, and keep the resulting USPS proof connected to the mailing record.
How does electronic return receipt compare with the paper green card?
Electronic Return Receipt is the electronic version of USPS PS Form 3811, commonly called the green card. Instead of mailing a paper card back, USPS supplies an electronic delivery and signature record when available. It is easier to retrieve in the archive; availability and timing depend on USPS and the service purchased.
What happens if my mailing is already in progress?
Contact the mailing desk as soon as possible with your order or tracking details. Before printing or USPS acceptance, we can tell you what corrections or cancellation options are available. Once a mailpiece is in the USPS mailstream, changes and intercepts are limited and depend on USPS rules and the stage of delivery.
How do I correct an address list before mailing?
Send the corrected list or contact the desk immediately and identify the order clearly. We will confirm whether the mailing is still awaiting production and what can be changed. Do not assume that editing a local spreadsheet changes an order already uploaded or accepted; wait for confirmation from the mailing desk.
