How much does it cost to send a Certified Mail letter?

$5.75 is the current USPS Certified Mail rate to send a 1-ounce  Certified Mail letter with Return Receipt Requested service (old fashioned green card).  New 2012 postal rates increased the costs of the Certified Mail fee, First Class postage and the old fashioned green card. Can You Send Certified Mail to Canada or Mexico?

No.  USPS Certified Mail is a product of the United States Postal Service. USPS Certified Mail with delivery confirmation is not available in Canada.  A comparable service used outside of the US is Registered Mail with Delivery Confirmation.

How long does it take USPS to deliver a Certified Letter?

Plan on 3 to 7 business days unless you send it Priority Mail 2 or 3 day service.  USPS Certified Mail provides the mailer a receipt of when the letter mailed and when the letter is delivered.  It does not guarantee an exact delivery time and is primarly used for compliance purposes or in important business mail.  USPS Certified Mail is First Class mail with Special Services that does receive a higher priority of delivery service. Can I send a Certified Mail Letter to a PO Box?

Yes.  Just address the letter using the P.O. Box number with the City, State and Zip code. USPS will leave a delivery notice inside the PO Box informing them to see a window clerk and sign for the Certified Mail letter at the window.
